New Details About Psycho-Pass 2 Anime Revealed


In 2012, some of Japan's top creative minds, including general manager Katsuyuki Motohiro, director Naoyoshi Shiotani, and storyboard and scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi, got together to create the original TV anime Psycho-Pass, to much popularity and critical appraise. The continuation of that anime, Psycho-Pass 2, is set to begin airing on Fuji TV’s Noitamina on Thursday, Oct. 9, and new details including a music video have now been released!
Director Naoyoshi Shiotani will be taking the helm of this project again this season, along with writer Tow Ubukata providing the outline, and scriptwriter Jun Kumagai. Music will again be provided by Yugo Kanno. Tatsunoko Productions will be in charge of animation and backed up by both Katsuyuki Motohiro and Gen Urobuchi as project supervisors.
Rock group Ling Tosite Sigure will again be providing the opening theme for this season, with a new song called "Enigmatic Feeling” that captures the atmosphere of the Psycho-Pass universe. The ending theme will be the song "Fallen" by Egoist, who also did the ending theme for the first season.
The voice talent casting has also been announced. It includes familiar names such as Kana Hanazawa as inspector Tsunemori, Kenji Nojima as enforcer Nobuchika Ginoza, Shizuka Itou as enforcer Yayoi Kunizuka, and Miyuki Sawashiro as lab assistant Shion Karanomori. In addition, there are a number of new cast members and characters. Ayane Sakura will voice inspector Mika Shimotsuki, who made an appearance in the last episode of the first season, Keiji Fujiwara as enforcer Sakuya Tougane, and Takahiro Sakurai as Shou Hinakawa. Furthermore, Masumi Asano as Division 2 Inspector Risa Aoyanagi, and Marina Inoue as Mizue Shisui. And the key mystery man, Kirito Kamui, will be played by Ryohei Kimura.
Psycho-Pass 2 takes place a year and a half after the ending of the first season. In a future in which people’s personalities and psychological states are digitized and managed in order to make sure they conform to a set of standards called the Psycho-Pass, Akane Tsunemori works as an inspector at the the Public Safety Bureau, which catches criminals based on this data. The story follows Tsunemori and her fellow agents as they investigate new incidents while confronting questions about society and justice.
