On Sept. 18, Tokyo Game Show 2014 (TGS) kicked off at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba Prefecture. The event will be held for four days until the 21 (the 18 and 19 are Business Days and the 20 and 21 are Public Days), and this year, we were one of the first to infiltrate Business Day!
The theme of this year’s TGS is “Change Games, Change Play.” Following this theme which puts the attention on the entirety of game diversification, this year’s event features twice the amount of booths for smartphone games and other types of games that show an arising change in the game market.
The event is being held in Halls 1-9 of Makuhari Messe as well as the Event Hall and International Conference Hall. Inside the booths there are large 100-inch screens set up to bring out an intense game atmosphere.
Also, there are a total of 421 company booths from 32 different countries, the most in the event’s history. With the backdrop of Asia’s burgeoning market and the diversification of games, there are 162 companies from outside Japan exhibiting, which will strengthen TGS’ role as an international trade fair. The 68 company booths in the Indie Game Corner are also not to be missed.
There are beautiful booth girls all over the venue.
Of course, the newest titles will also be highlights of the event. The PlayStation 4 gamesBloodborne, Drive Club, and Biohazard: Revelations 2, the Xbox One games D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9, which succeeded in raising funds via Kickstarter, are all available to demo.
Including the PlayStation Vita games Phantasy Star Nova and God Eater 2: Rage Burst, there are over 40 new titles to be unveiled at this year’s TGS.
In addition to this year’s TGS also including the world premiere of the newest video forMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the newest game in the action franchise Metal Gear, Sega’s newest game in its Winning Eleven series, World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2015, will be available to demo for the first time in Japan. Also, the New Nintendo 3DS will be at the Capcom booth on which Monster Hunter 4G will be available to demo. This as well will draw huge crowds. It is anticipated that the weekend Public Days will be even more exciting due to the cosplay booths that will be set up.
