 Sept. 13, the movie Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends finally opened. The previous film, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno, which released in August, made 4.5 billion yen at the box office and sold 3.57 million tickets. The Legend Ends is expected to be a hit as well.

This two-part film, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno/The Legend Ends, is based on the popular Kyoto arc of the original manga. the highly praised action scenes from the first film,Rurouni Kenshin, have been further refined and a story with an epic scale has been developed.
The second part of the new film, The Legend Ends, is expected to pick up where the previous left off. Kenshin Himura, who has vowed not to kill, faces off against formidable enemies Aoshi Shinomori, Sojiro Seta, and Makoto Shishio for a final battle. One point to mention is the new cast. Masaharu Fukuyama, who wears a variety of hats including actor, singer/songwriter, and music producer, plays in the film Kenshin’s teacher, Seijuro Hiko. Fukuyama was praised for his previous role as main character Sakamoto Ryoma in the historical drama Ryomaden (2010), which was directed by Keishi Otomo who also directs this film. Fukuyama was chosen for the role due to his abilities as an actor and his good compatibility with director Otomo.
