Months ago, we have reported that Ruruouni Kenshin will have a new anime and finally, Aniplex confirmed that it will be a two part OVA entitled, Rurouni Kenshin New Kyoto Arc! The first part will play in Japanese theaters in December.
It will remake the Kyoto Arc which was first seen in the original anime series. The said remake will have Misao's point of view and a major large scale remake on the battle against Shishio. Rurouni Kenshin New Kyoto Arc is part of the anime series' 15th Anniversary along with it is the video game and the upcoming live-action movie which stars Takeru Satoh and Emi Takei.
Director Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Studio DEEN are returning to animate the new series along with musical composer Noriyuki Asakura. Mari Okada (AnoHana, Wandering Son) is writing the scripts this time.
Hiromitsu Hagiwara (Saint Beast ~Ikusen no Hiru to Yoru Hen~) is the new character designer, and Hiro Kaburaki (Kimi ni Todoke) will take over as the episode director. The cast will remain the same except for the role of Hajime Saitō, who will be played by Ken Narita.
